Example Blog Post for Blogger Relay
lowcostholidays.com have created the Blogger Relay competition for travel writers to create a massive index of travel memories and stories.
Team Captains will start the Blogger Relay race, sharing their top three memories of their favourite travel destinations and ranking them 1st, 2nd and 3rd before passing the Travel Baton on to a fellow blogger. The Team in the longest chain by the end of the competition all win the Blogger Relay! (And, more importantly, a prize!)
Our Top Travel Judge panel, Traveldudes, Global Grasshopper and Travel Chica, will also choose the best blog from ALL entries and that blogger will win an iPad2, Digital SLR and Walking Boots!
Here’s our Blog Team’s example entry to kick things off:
1st Place: Al Fresco Clubbing in Malta
My number one travel memory so far is clubbing in Gianpula’s Groove Gardens in Malta. On our annual girls’ holiday we chose to go to Malta, after hearing rumours that it’s meant to be the new Ibiza. Malta ticked a lot of boxes for us: beaches, hot weather and lots of landmarks for group photos. Most evenings we went out in the Paceville area, which was good fun but much like any other European clubbing strip. On the last night we took a cab to Ta’Qali for the Groove Gardens Friday night party. It was such a cool venue, with flame throwers and dancers, our favourite house tunes and lots of dancing in the warm Maltese nights. Definitely the best way to start the summer!
2nd Place: Dolphin and Whale Spotting in Tenerife
On a holiday to with my other half we booked to go on a Los Gigantes Special boat tour – a half day cruise around Masca Bay and the Los Gigantes Cliffs. I was sceptical if we would actually see any animals but after two minutes at the first stop we spotted lots of bottlenose dolphins playing about very close to the boat. We were also lucky enough to see some pilot whales. When the captain spotted them he closed down the engine and the pod of whales swam right underneath the boat – luckily we had a good view of the underwater window (it was quite crowded) but it was just incredible seeing the whales so close! I always remember the boat trip as the best memory of the holiday, and it’s a tick off the bucket list!
3rd Place: Hiking in Majorca
I went to Majorca with the parents when I was quite a bit younger and had just thought of it as a beach holiday beforehand and didn’t expect to do much other than sit by the pool, soak up the sun and not really venture too far from the resorts. However, my family are quite active and after a couple of days of chilling out by the pool we decided to head out on some day trips, one of which was a hike through Valldemossa in the north of the island. The stunning scenery and feeling of remoteness really made me realise that you shouldn’t judge a destination before you get there. The friendly goat herder and the fresh orange juice from a road side stall really topped off the feeling that we were somewhere totally different to where we had been a few hours ago.
We’re passing the Blogger Relay baton on to our Team Captains:
Red Team: Katy from Starry Eyed Travels
Blue Team: Christina Hegele from Jandal Road
Yellow Team: Karin from KandKAdventures
Green Team: Erica from Over Yonder Lust
Purple Team: Neil from Backpacks and Bunkbeds
