The Smart Girl’s Guide to Clubbing in Ibiza

The must-read guide to clubbing in Ibiza, from The Smart Girl’s Travel Guide...

The White Isle is, and always will be, the globe’s number one party destination. The summer congress of the world’s best DJs and artists creates an island not only renowned for its epic club nights, but for its electrifying atmosphere. There’s no sunset like the Cafe Del Mar sunset with hundreds of clubbers lining the beachfront and toasting to the horizon, there’s no social gathering like a hungry crowd sharing the same musical passion and celebrating their favourite house / techno DJs, and there’s no beach like Bora Bora where sun worshippers sip cocktails and party in the scorching heat all day long.

Ibiza is the ultimate holiday clubbing destination, overflowing with the sexiest, trendiest people on the planet. But this sort of party panache doesn’t come cheap. If you’re heading to Ibiza this summer, check out the must-read Ibiza clubbing guide from The Smart Girl’s Travel Guide.

The Five Ps to Partying in Ibiza

  • Planning
  • Ibiza Spotlight is the ultimate clubber’s bible. This is your online manual to all club nights and it’s also the official booking portal for your club night tickets. Use the party calendar to plan out your week and if there’s a big night that you just can’t miss out on, book online to queue jump and to avoid missing out when you arrive. The clubs in Ibiza are big venues so you can’t just turn up and expect to get in – always plan your tickets.

  • Promotions
  • Booking online isn’t always best and there are some great deals on offer when you land on the party island. You will be approached by club promoters on Ibiza’s beautiful beaches which could include all-you-can-drink bar entry, pre-parties and club transport. But beware of phony vendors selling fake tickets or conditional tickets with time limits. Never be afraid to ask a promoter for his/her official ID card or even ask to check out the venue before committing.

  • Prices
  • Tickets for the big club nights can cost anywhere between 30 Euros to 60 Euros and drinks aren’t cheap either (coming in at around 15 or 20 Euros for a mixer drink in a club). This will make up most of your outgoings so you can try and scrape back a few savings elsewhere – local supermarkets are great for buying your own food and alcohol, and it’s very common amongst tourists and locals to take shop-bought booze to the beach.

  • Places
  • There are many places to stay and visit in Ibiza; favourite hot spots include the young and hip Playa D’en Bossa, the bargain bars of San Antonio, and the classy party harbour of Ibiza Town. The 7 major clubs are dotted around the island and are hard to get to without a taxi or party bus, so no matter where you decide to stay, you will still need to factor in transport for each night.

Ibiza Town is a great night out if you don’t have a club ticket and the sunset bars of San Antonio are not to be missed if you want to experience the spinechilling Ibiza sunset.

  • Party Dress Code
  • Overall, it’s pretty relaxed. But people dress to impress in Ibiza, so make an effort and feel free to be creative with your outfits. For men, shoes and ironed shirts are not required like most clubs back home, and females can get away with flip flops and most items of beachwear (when done in good taste). High heels are generally not worn by clubbers so invest in sexy sandals and flirtatious flats!

Have a great time in Ibiza!
