Kennedy Space Centre

Where is it? Florida

Why it’s Awesome!

The Kennedy Space Centre in Florida is a must do experience for all science lovers while on holidays to Orlando. An easy drive from the International Drive area, it is located at Cape Canaveral on the Sunshine State’s East Coast, and is perfect for a day trip. The visitor centre, which has been refurbished in the last few years, is home to a wide range of exhibits, including space related items dating back to the beginning of the space race. Kids will be equally entertained with the variety on offer, from great interactive areas to the amazing IMAX films on offer. The ever popular souvenir shops even sell space food!

Useful Tips:

Allocate a decent amount of time for the bus tour which is the only way to get around the grounds of the space centre. There is plenty to see across the massive site, which is 8 times larger than Manhattan, including the observation gantry and the Apollo and Saturn V Centre.

If possible, coincide your visit with a rocket launch (the bus tours are cancelled on these days), the opportunity to take in such an awesome sight won’t come around too often. For budding space travellers you can even book lunch with an astronaut or take the Astronaut Training Experience.

The price to see everything is $43 for Adults, $33 for kids (3-11), both exclusive of tax. Bus tours usually take a little over two hours, aim to take an early morning tour to avoid lengthy queues.
