Festivals – Top tips for surviving
festival guide

Festival season is well under way, as is the unpredictable British summer time. There are more than 300 music festivals this summer alone! Giving thousands of revellers the chance to rave and misbehave in a field/beach/meadow of their choice. So whether you are rocking out, chilling out or just having a sing song at a festival this summer, Lowcostholiday's summer festival guide will give you the insider info to guarantee a big festival experience.

1. Get your wellies in check! Wellington boots are essential for every festival goer, find a comfortable pair that keep your feet dry and mud free. Wellies are even creeping into festival chic this summer, so look good whilst you're raving in the mud.

2. Bring a trolley/wheelbarrow! We're not expecting you to do any gardening at your festival. However transporting your tent, alcohol, sleeping bag, clothes and BBQ on two hands is near impossible. A wheelbarrow or your Nan's shopping trolley makes that long journey from the car park to your tent pitch bearable.

3. Wet Wipes. Four or five days without a shower takes its toll, drive away them blues with a festival special- a wet wipe shower. Smell like roses, whilst keeping clean and not queuing up for hours for a cold tap in the middle of nowhere.

4. A complete set of dry clothes. Although you should pack lightly, there is nothing more refreshing than a nice set of dry clothes after spending hours in the lovely British rain.

5. Treat your tent like your home. A tent becomes your haven at a festival. Firstly buy a decent tent - it is essential. Secondly lock your tent when you are not in it, festivals are a mecca for petty thieves and vandals. Lastly, keep it mud free and wipe your feet before entry!!

6. Bring sun tan lotion. You never know you may well get a bit of sunshine, and whilst that's not a promise, sun burn or even worse sun stroke is not cool at a festival. Standing in the sun all day will take its toll, so manage your skin carefully.

7. Wayfarers (or any sun glasses). Festivals are full of young pretty people; take this up a notch with the classic festival sun eyewear- Wayfarers. These bad boys work on most face shapes, allows you to get your festival chic on, and most importantly covers up the damage from the previous few nights.

8. Trilby (Classic festival hat). A festival hat gets you in the festival mood; a trilby is classic festival attire. This tops up your festival chic and adds some glamour to proceedings. Lastly, when you are in no mood to do your hair, the trilby becomes very handy.

9. A Poncho. A poncho will not add to your festival chic, however it is essential. It keeps you dry, is generally cheap and when it rains will be your best friend.

10. Bring enough money.Figure out your budget beforehand. Festival organisers are no silly billys and where they can make money they will. On site cash machines can charge ridiculous amounts to withdraw money, the queues are long and they will probably run out of cash by the time you need it.
