UK Airports Closed – Travel Advice for Getting to the Airport in the Snow

Are you one of the many people inconvenienced by the UK coming to a complete standstill over a couple of inches of snow? Have you suffered from train routes being cancelled or severely delayed or are you one of the unfortunate soles faced with airport closures at London Gatwick, London City and Edinburgh? Well you have my sympathies, because it's not looking like you're going to get to your destination today.

But if you're still trying to make it to a UK airport today, here's a top 10 checklist for surviving your airport journey;

1. DON'T DO IT!!!
2. If you have to do it, make friends with someone who owns a snowplough or very large 4x4.
3. Wear all your pairs of Long-Jons; don't pretend you don't own lots of them, they're how M&S made their fortune!
4. It's all about layers people, layer it up. Wear two or three of everything...yep including shoes!
5. Take out that snowboard that cost you a fortune and that everyone told you was a complete waste of space and money....who's laughing now!!
6. Take lots of cash with you... everyone has a price!
7. Don't speak to strangers... that's just good sense!
8. Don't eat yellow snow...or light brown snow for that matter!
9. Take a SatNav...well have you looked outside, I can't tell where one street ends and another begins.
10. Avoid the temptation to tell everyone you meet 'It's cold...isn't it', it's obvious and just plain annoying....we're all cold!

Safe journey folks!
